FAQ REcreating a character after a purge or extended absence

I used to play here but I got purged. Can I recreate my character?

Sure!

Can I have all my applauds, bonus stats, restricted special, staff status and/or Chosen status back?

Nope. Sorry. It seems unfair for the people who have stuck around for months and might not even know who you are, if they see someone suddenly pop up and get all sorts of extra bonuses. If you become an active participant on the MUCK again, get involved and impress us, you have the same chance at earning the shiny things as everyone else.

My character died, can I remake him in chargen and have him come back to life?

Not without a damn impressive IC reason. Actions have consequences here, and if you die there won't be a magical rewind. No clones, no bizarre mist resurrection, no strange magical circumstances, no ghostly apparitions floating about. You can try the latter if you're brave enough, but don't complain or be shocked when the avatar of Death pops up to collect you.

Nobody remembers me! / People don't play like they did when I played here!

Things change. People don't remember your heroic actions from a year ago. They don't remember your character's coup against the government. They don't remember the fearsome menace you once were. They don't remember your prefered roleplay style. You can talk about it all you want, but the people of the mists have short memories, and your actions on the grid will speak louder than your tales of adventures past. Don't feel put off if you show up after a period of inactivity and everything seems different. You'll catch the swing of things soon enough.

Do you have a record of my character?

There's a remote chance, but don't count on it. Actually, just assume the answer is no. Filtering through old server logs is a very difficult and tedious process. If you want to keep a record of your character, please use the @archive command, or save your sheet, pinfo, and the descriptions of your character and their home to a text file.

How do I explain my return, In Character?

It's completely up to you. Maybe you got stuck in the mists for a while, or ended up someplace else. Maybe you were on a secret mission you can't talk about. Maybe you think no time has passed at all. You don't have to wait for someone to GM a tinyplot to explain your absence or approve your reasons. Be creative, and dive back in.

I logged in every three months and still got deleted. What gives?

Unfinished characters only get a 30 day window before they're purged. The only circumstance where we'll delete a "finished" character, even if they log in during the purge period, is if they break one of our few rules. If you haven't played in six months and get put in holding, leaving holding to do anything beyond roleplay or to set up roleplay isn't allowed. Sorry if this upsets you, but we got tired of people making characters just to either hang out idle and chat, or sit in their houses and do nothing. Have we mentioned that all we ask for is one scene every six months?
